Yokun Ridge Reserve – Brothers Trailhead The Brothers Trail is a 0.9-mile moderate hike located within the 734-acre Yokun Ridge South reserve of the BNRC. The trail connects the Charcoal Trail to Old Baldhead Road on the other side of Lenox-Richmond Mountain Road. Trail builder Peter Jensen engineered stone steps that lead visitors under towering hemlocks of the gorge described by onetime Lenox resident Nathaniel Hawthorne as “shady nook where summer had cooled herself.”Wildlife often spotted here include barred owls, indigo bunting, and other forest birds, with lucky hikers possibly spotting bears or large mammals. The Brothers Trail was named after the grandsons of Anson Phelps Stokes, a Gilded Age finance giant who bought and built Shadowbrook house on this property in 1893.
