Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park, Freeport, Maine Wolfe’s Neck has an easy, well-maintained trail system. The park offersa simple trail network with “escape hatches” throughout, allowing hikers to adjust distance based on changing circumstances. The signature trail is the 1.5 mile Harraseeket Trail, which leads to overlook rocky cliffs and the Harraseeket River. The popular Harraseeket and White Pines Trail Loop is 2.2 miles long with 180 feet of elevation gain. The 244-acre state park sits on a peninsula between Casco Bay and the Harraseeket River and includes white pine and hemlock forests, salt marsh estuary, and rocky shore. It’s a five minute walk from the parking lot to the rocky shore loaded with clams, mollusks, snails, oysters, crabs, and other sea life. Ospreys nest on the island just offshore and patrol the skies over the park. The White Pines Trail is stroller and wheelchair-accessible, hugging the shore.
