Westconnaug Meadows, Clayville, Rhode Island Westconnaug Meadows is a good hike for beginners and children, featuring an approximately 1-mile loop hike. The trail includes informational posts identifying various types of oak, birch, sassafras, and pine trees, as well as glacial boulders and vernal pools. A historical cemetery near the trailhead was once the site of Scituate’s poor farm, providing educational interest beyond natural features. The trail is very easy to follow with brown plastic trail markers, andthe Scituate Land Trust maintains the property well. This peaceful preserve is ideal for a short family outing or nature walk.
