Weeks State Park, Lancaster, New Hampshire Weeks State Park offers over five miles of trail travel around and up the 2,058 ft Mount Prospect, with difficulty options ranging from easy to moderate. The Around the Mountain Loop Trail is a 3-mile, multi-use trail designed for hikers, cross-country skiers and snowmobilers, while the popular Prospect Mountain Trail is 3.6 miles long with an elevation gain of 921 feet. The historic Mountain Road Scenic Byway, built between 1911 and 1912, is 1.4 miles to the summitand isopen to hikers year round. Scenery highlights include a 360-degree panorama of mountain splendor, including the Presidential Range of the White Mountains, the Green Mountains of Vermont, the Kilkenny Range, the Percy Peaks, and the upper Connecticut River Valley. The trails provide views of Martin Meadow pond and Cherry Mountain, and an overlook with views of the Franconia and Kinsman ranges. Notable features include a 56-foot-high stone observation tower with an observation deck that is maintained by the NH Division of Forest and Lands and is open to the public, as well asthe John Wingate Weeks Historic Site, the former Mount Prospect estate of U. S. congressman, senator, and Secretary of War John Wingate Weeks.
