This portion of the Appalachian Trail starts on US Route 302, 1 mile south of the Willey House in Crawford Notch. The trail has two branches, one leading to the summit of Mount Webster (3,910 feet) and the other to Mount Jackson (4,052 feet), and can be hiked as a 6.5-mile loop using the Webster Cliff Trail to connect the two summits. This is a challenging route with lots of steep rock climbs and descents, slippery shale, rocks and roots. The expansive summit of Mount Webster offers fabulous views across the notch to the Willey Range, andboth peaks are known for their population of gray jays. Restrooms are available at this site.
