Walter-Newton Conservation Trails This 1.5-mile loop trail near Plymouth, New Hampshire is generally considered easy and takes an average of 33 minutes to complete. The terrain is predominantly flat, with the Ruth Walter Trail providing a direct 0.6-mile route to Rainbow Falls, while the Newton Trail completes the loop with a slightly steeper and longer 0.9-mile return. After 1⁄2 mile of easy hiking on the Ruth Walter Trail, you come to Rainbow Falls, a beautiful 30-foot waterfall. The trail passes by viewpoints overlooking the marsh and includes a small bridge crossing a footbridge. The site features trail infrastructure including wooden beams and stepping stones to assist navigation in wetter conditions. The trails provide access for educational as well as recreational uses. Sturdy footwear is recommended due to occasional muddy or slippery conditions. The trails are maintained by the Plymouth Conservation Commission.
