This section of the Mass Central Rail Trail runs from the Thomas Street Parking Area in Oakdale, West Boylston to River Street in Holden. The route follows the wooded banks of the Quinapoxet River for 2.7 miles to River Street, opening up when the trail passes under I-190. The trail is easy and is a point-to-point (or out-and-back) rail trail format. The Rail Trail is in good condition and has a stone dust surface. Key highlights includeforests with tall pines on either side with plenty of opportunity to stop, sit on one of the many scenic view benches and take in the river and woods. The first of two bridges over the Quinapoxet River appears at the 1.8 mile mark, and the trail crosses the river again at the 2.6 mile mark. Dogs are permitted on the West Boylston section of the MCRT from the Route 140/Thomas Street trailhead to the I-190 overpass.
