“The Mountain” offers a nice, woodsy 2.4-mile loop with a gentle climb, making itmoderate in difficulty. There are two decent lookouts over Long Pond on the western side of the loop, at small open ledges located roughly 0.8 miles from the trailhead. The Mountain Trail has two primary loops, Great Pond and Long Pond, withthe Great Pond Loop (0.4 miles) climbing through a glacial boulder field to a small open area—the highest point on The Mountain at 665 feet. The main trail, an old logging road, is a multi-use trail, where snowmobiles, horses and bikes are allowed, while the narrower loops — Great Pond Loop and Long Pond Loop — are for walkers and runners only. You can tack on additional mileage if you continue north to the connected Quill Hill preserve area and its ~3.0-mile wooded loop.
