Tariffville Gorge offers a moderately challenging 2.7-mile loop trail near East Granby, Connecticut. Trails connect to the Farmington River and include a long stretch of the blue blaze Metacomet Trail. The Farmington River squeezes through sheer basalt cliffs reaching over 200 vertical feet, creating charging rapids, and hikers can view the gorge from open rocky overlooks. Key features include river rapids, a deep river-formed gorge, forest habitat, and a breached dam (Spoonville Dam). Hikers will have several viewpoints and pass by a Colonial-era smallpox cemetery.
