Stillwater Trail Parking, Orono, Maine This trailhead accesses the Stillwater River Trail, which spans 1.8 miles from Bennoch Road to Main Street/US 2 in Orono. Very level terrain with the exception of a walk down from the parking area makes this a pretty easy hike. The trail hugs the west bank of the Stillwater River through a densely forested corridor and offers scenic river views. The trail follows the route of a long-since-disappeared railroad that once was used to haul timber from the area. Look for beaver lodges along the river’s edges.
