Spiderweed Preserve This 2.7-mile loop trail is moderately challenging and takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete. The path meanders through dry oak woods and leads over a rock bluff with elevated views of the surrounding area. Highlights include interesting ruins and a peaceful atmosphere. After about a half mile of steady climb, you reach stone ruins at the summit—the former summer home of Helen Lohman, who donated the property over half a century ago, with two stories and three outer walls remaining; visitors can explore the ruins and enjoy views from the ancient windows. Spring brings vernal pools essential to woodland frogs and salamanders, plus wildflowers including bloodroot, trillium, jack-in-the-pulpit, and geranium.
