Silver Lake State Park Silver Lake is an easy hike covering 0.9 miles with an elevation gain of 32 feet, making it accessible for families and casual hikers. The trail is a point-to-point route. While the main lake trail is short, longer options include the Goshen Trail connected to Leicester Hollow Trail, a 5.5-mile trail that loops around the lake with the Silver Loop Trail. This busy park is popular for its sandy swimming area, picnic grounds, and camping area, and its proximity to Woodstock and other central Vermont tourist destinations makes it ideal for family vacations. The park encompasses the northern shoreline of 84-acre Silver Lake which supports excellent fishing of northern pike, perch, smallmouth bass and other warm-water species, and the lake is popular for paddling and quieter recreation, with only occasional motorboats passing by. Kayaks, canoes, pedal boats and row boats are available to rent through the park office, and SUPs are available to rent through the park. Some popular activities include night hikes, nature crafts and games, campfire programs and amphibian explorations. The 35-acre state park was once part of several farms; a farm homestead was located near the current park entrance; the remains of a barn foundation are still visible in the campground.
