Sanders Hill Loop – Rome, Maine This trail in the Kennebec Highlands Public Reserved Land offers moderate hiking along the ridgeline of Sanders Hill. The Sanders Hill Loop hiking trail is 2.9 miles long and can be hiked in either direction. The trail passes many granite slabs, boulders, and rock field all of which allude to the glacial history of the area. This part of the loop travels through a beautiful mixed forest and past a large boulder called “Snapper Rock.”The trail is managed by the Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance in partnership with the Maine Department of Conservation.
