Round Top is a fairly popular little mountain, 1,133 feet, in the 6,800-acre Kennebec Highlands, with decent views and an easy to moderate hike. The Round Top Trail is a loop trail that covers 4.7 mi, with an elevation gain of 921 ft, taking about 2.5–3 hr to complete. The main trail passes an overlook with views of Long Pond, Belgrade Lakes Village, and Great Pond. The trail is well marked with blue blazes and passes through a forest of hardwoods and pines on the way to the summit, from which the town of Belgrade Lakes, Long Pond, and Great Pond are all visible. Porcupines are often seen in the area so dogs are best kept on leash on this trail.
