Roosevelt Forest offers a 2.9-mile loop trail that is considered easy, taking an average of 59 minutes to complete, with a shorter 0.9-mile loop option also available as an easy route taking about 18 minutes. The main loop trail covers 2.9 miles with an elevation gain of 157 feet. The forest features marked hiking trails with short loops or longer hikes through woods, hills, and over streams, with a rustic picnic area next to a dirt parking area and pond. Wildlife commonly spotted includes ducks, wild turkeys, herons, hawks, woodpeckers, and robins, along with deer, chipmunks, squirrels, foxes, and raccoons. The park was established in the 1930s and developed by Roosevelt’s WPA programs, hence its name.
