Rock Circuit Trail is a 4.3-mile loop trail near Melrose, Massachusetts that is generally considered a moderately challenging route. The trail is marked with white blazes but some short sections can be challenging to follow, so downloading the map is helpful. Along the trail you’ll pass rocky landmarks including Melrose Rock, Black Rock, Pinnacle Rock, Boojum Rock, and Hemlock Pool. The trail features great viewpoints with heavy forest canopy and floor, with plenty of rocks, roots, rock faces, and pine needle floors requiring reliable footing. This is a very popular area for birding and hiking, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.
