Retreat Tower Trailhead This easy, 0.5-mile trail provides access to Retreat Tower, built in 1887 by patients of Brattleboro Retreat, a mental health care facility. The tower is locked and closed for safety, though visitors enjoy viewing the structure; there is also a cemetery nearby with graves dating back to the 1800s. The trail is a short uphill walk with approximately 15 minutes to reach the tower. From the trailhead, you can also access Harris Hill and climb approximately 210 stairs to the top of a 90-meter Olympic-size ski jump built in 1922, which offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Retreat Farm offers 11 miles of trails overall for walking, hiking, biking, skiing, and snowshoeing, making this a starting point for a broader network of easy to moderate trails through wooded terrain.
