Retreat Farm offers an extensive trail system open seven days a week from dawn to dusk, featuring over 11 miles of free public trails. The Woodlands Interpretive Trail, accessible from the Solar Hill Trailhead, is a moderate 1-mile loop with 18 educational placards on ecology and geology. While many of the trails are suited for beginners and families, some singletracks are quite challenging. The Retreat Meadows at the confluence of the West and Connecticut Rivers serve as important wetland habitat with frequent sightings of migratory birds and local wildlife. The trail system includes access to Retreat Tower, built in 1887 by the patients of Brattleboro Retreat, a mental health care facility.
