Reid State Park offers miles of trails along woods, marshes, and long, white beaches (Mile Beach and Half Mile Beach). The park offers two main trails popular with hikers: the 2.14-mile Ski Loop Trail, which makes a loop through the northern area with one section near a sizeable pond and bog area, andthe Little River Trail, a 1.4-mile trail, which follows the meandering Little River. Much of the park’s back paths are easy, level, and wide, while the Little River Trail is rougher than the other paths. Scenery highlights includesweeping seascapes from the top of Griffith Head, a rocky headland overlooking the park, where visitors can spot the lighthouses on Seguin Island, The Cuckolds, and Hendricks Head. The beaches are essential nesting areas for endangered least terns and piping plovers and resting and feeding areas for other shorebirds. A historic one-room schoolhouse is located across the road from the pond. The Ski Loop Trail is groomed in winter for cross-country skiing as conditions allow.
