Pulpit Rock Conservation Area is Bedford’s best place for local hiking, bird watching, and outdoor experiences. This moderately challenging area offers hiking routes ranging from 2-6 miles with elevation gains between 230-740 feet, taking approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete. The trails feature varied terrain includinga gorge and ledge named “Pulpit Rock”, wetlands, Pulpit Brook with small picturesque waterfalls, rocky outcroppings, and glacial erratics such as Indian Rock, along with the remnants of Gage’s Mill. The trails are very well maintained and labeled with color-coded arrows to keep you on the correct path. Popular loop options include the Campbell and Tufts Trail Loop and trails connecting to Joppa Hill, making thisa must-see for short hiking adventures or bird-watching outings.
