Palmer Taylor Preserve This easy hiking area features the Palmer Trail, which covers 1.4 miles, withrolling hilly terrain through the forest. The 90-acre preserve consists of several land parcels donated to the Middlesex Land Trust by the Palmer family over many years. Highlights include wooded uplands, large hay fields, two ponds and Taylor Brook, plusa viewpoint of the Connecticut River. A standout feature isa massive tunnel under the Air Line Trail standing 30 feet tall and a hundred feet long. The property has the historic Erinmore Barn, andspringtime brings wildflowers, many planted by Prudence Taylor Palmer who was active in the Middletown Garden Club.
