Nye Holman Archery Range – Easy / Field Archery Course / <1 mile The Nye Holman Archery range has been available for general public use since the 1980s and involves a primarily one-way walking course of free-standing archery targets that extend through a variety of wooded terrain and field conditions. This is a specialized archery facility rather than a traditional hiking trail; visitors should note that the archery course is the main attraction here, though the area is also popular for boating and fishing on the Willimantic River. The 818-acre Nye-Holman State Forest sprawls across several sections of Ellington, Tolland, and Willington, with the archery range located in the southern Tolland section. The property has historical significance—the forest features plantings by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) in the 1930s that offer shelter and food for a variety of wildlife.
