The New England Trail at Robinson State Park runs along the Provin Mountain Ridge, past the former facility of TV station WWLP to the Springfield Underground Reservoir, and then down to the Westfield River in Robinson State Forest. The trails are paved and unpaved sections totaling approximately 20 miles with easy to moderate difficulty. The narrow park follows the course of the Westfield River, giving you views of the river from many of its trails. The section through Robinson State Park offers views of Springfield and Hartford, past Provin Mountain reservoir. The terrain consists of packed dirt, rocky outcroppings, and occasional root-filled sections with small stream crossings, and hikers may come across remnants of old dams and structures, offering a glimpse into the area’s history.
