Nasketucket Bay State Reservation, Mattapoisett, MAAn easy hike covering 2.4 miles with an elevation gain of 42 feet, Nasketucket Bay State Reservation offers awide, grassy loop trail that’s ideal for an easy hike or bike ride. The 400-acre property features six well-groomed trails that lead through meadows and woods, as well as along the rocky shore of Nasketucket Bay, which is part of Buzzards Bay. The area includes fields, farmhouse ruins, salt marshes, forest trails, and rocky beach, with a mixed forest of pine, oak, beech, birch, and tall holly trees providing habitat for birds, reptiles, and woodland mammals, while three vernal pools offer breeding habitat for frogs and salamanders. The reservation is pet-friendly and features a bridle trail for horses, andvisitors can combine a hike with a bike ride along the Mattapoisett Rail Trail, which connects to the reservation via the Shaw Farm Trail.
