Nansen Ski Jump State Historic Site – Milan, New Hampshire This New Hampshire state park features the iconic ski jump structure along with a picnic area and boat launch on the Androscoggin River. Built in 1936, it was the largest ski jump of its time, andfor almost fifty years remained the largest ski jump in the eastern United States. The facility features a 175.3-foot steel frame that is 260 feet in length, with a 171.5-foot tower, 225-foot vertical drop, and a descent angle of approximately 37.5 degrees. The first Olympic trials were held at the Nansen Ski Jump in 1938. Access to the jump itself is restricted, thoughthe Nansen Ski Club provides groomed Nordic ski and snowshoe trails at Milan Hill State Park in the area while continuing restoration work on the historic jump. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
