Mt. Zircon Trail is a moderate hike covering 5.7 miles with 1,624 feet of elevation gain, typicallytaking 3.5–4 hours to complete. This is an out-and-back hikethatbegins on an old gravel road with steady incline for about 2 miles before turning onto a narrow footpath to reach the summit. The summit offers expansive views including the White Mountains in the distance and wind turbines on Spruce Mountain, plusviews of Grafton Notch, Sunday River, Bald and Speckled Mountain. The hike passes the Moon Tide spring house, a remnant of the once prosperous Zircon Spring Water Company, andthe summit features a downed fire tower. Note that the trailhead sign is easily missed on South Rumford Road, set back from the road.
