This 2.0-mile out-and-back trail near West Forks, Maine is generally considered easy and takes an average of 48 minutes to complete. The dirt trail to the falls features stairs and platforms near the end. At a vertical drop of over 90 feet into a pool about 17 feet deep, Moxie Falls is one of the highest falls in New England. The beginning is flat and smooth, winding through boggy spots where stepping stumps are placed, and wooden steps and walkways wind along the stream toward the falls. There are swimming holes above and below the falls, with a steep “mudslide” path leading to the base. The well-maintained trail passes through mixed hardwoods with viewing platforms for easy picture-taking and opportunities to spot wildlife including deer, rabbits, hawks, and bald eagles.
