Mount Phillip Trail, Rome, Maine Mount Phillip Loop Trail is a moderate hike that covers 1.4 miles with an elevation gain of 334 feet. The Mount Phillip Trail is a loop trail that can be followed in either direction and passes through mature stands of pines and hemlock as it ascends to the top of Mount Phillip with several overlooks along the way. The summit offers views of the Kennebec Highlands and Great Pond, with a beautifully carved stone seat for one at the 755-foot summit. Some sections of the trail are rocky and can be very slippery when wet. The trail has two parking lots, and parking is free.
