Mount Greylock State Reservation features Massachusetts’ highest peak at 3,491 feet. The reservation offers over 70 miles of hiking trails, including a segment of the Appalachian Trail and the historic Thunderbolt Ski Trail. Trails vary in difficulty from casual to extremely difficult, with options ranging from the easy 1.8 mile Bradley Farm Interpretive Trail through northern hardwood forestto longer summit routes likethe Bellows Pipe Trail at 5.9 miles with 2,240 feet of elevation gain. On a clear day, views extend as far as 90 miles away, and Bascom Lodge at the summit offers overnight accommodations and meals during non-winter months. Primitive camping is available for backpackers at the Mount Greylock Campground or remote trailside backpacker shelters accessible by foot.
