Mohawk Mountain State Park/Forest Mohawk Mountain State Park offers 10.5 miles of trails winding through the linear park toward the communications tower, with4,000 acres of rugged ridges, dense forests, wildlife sanctuary, and a black spruce bog. The primary trail to the summit isa 5.9-mile out-and-back route that is generally considered moderately challenging. From 1,683-foot Mohawk Mountain, on a clear day, the view extends to the Catskill, Taconic, and Berkshire ranges. Key highlights includethe Black Spruce Bog, a glacial sink hole with a unique plant community, featuring a trail and boardwalk, and a historic 30-foot stone tower called Aerie, built in 1915 by Seymour Cunningham. Hikers may glimpse deer, fox, or bobcat along sections of the Mohawk Trail.
