The Mass Central Rail Trail in West Boylston features a 3-mile section running from River Street to Thomas Street in the village of Oakdale, roughly following the Quinapoxet River. This rail trail section runs from the Thomas Street Parking Area in Oakdale, West Boylston to River Street in Holden and has a stone dust surface. The trail is easy to bike and suitable for the whole family. The trail follows along the Quinapoxet River for much of its length and passes the remains of the once bustling Springdale Mill. This section starts at Wachusett Reservoir, which was created by flooding parts of West Boylston containing several textile mills along the Quinapoxet, Stillwater, and (now flooded) Nashua Rivers. Dogs are permitted on the West Boylston section of the MCRT from the Route 140/Thomas Street trailhead to the I-190 overpass.
