Lang Station is located at the midway point of the New Boston Rail Trail and includes a parking area on Gregg Mill Road. The New Boston Rail Trail is easy with a total length of 3.9 miles. The trail presents two distinctly different experiences—the western section offers a traditional rail-trail experience on a wide, packed dirt surface suitable for most mountain and hybrid bicycles and pedestrian use, while the eastern section is more suitable for hikers and experienced mountain bikers only. The trail parallels the South Branch of the Piscataquog River, and immediately east of Lang Station the trail crosses the Middle Branch of the Piscataquog right before it meets the South Branch over a lovely footbridge. The old Lang Station building was built by the railroad as an open shelter and constructed of local stones. The railroad was in operation from 1893 to 1931 and was used for both freight and passenger service; it later became a trail after the railroad ceased operations in the 1970s.
