King Preserve is an easy loop trail near Saunderstown, Rhode Island, with a 3.1-mile combined system that takes about an hour to complete. The Stoney Brook Trail features several stream crossings and loops through the preserve’s interior for 1.5 miles, with low bog bridges crossing seasonally wet areas. Managed by The Nature Conservancy and Narrow River Land Trust, the preserve protects the Narrow River estuary and offers travels along cart paths, over streams, and along the Narrow River. The wetlands and woodlands provide habitat for diverse wildlife including coyotes, mink, and raccoons. Hikers are required to wear fluorescent orange from September 15 to January 31 due to hunting season.
