The park is named for Kill Kare, a summer camp for boys that operated from 1912 until 1966, and features a three-story building built in the 1870s that originally operated as a summer resort hotel known as The Rocky Point House. The Rocky Point House Museum, dedicated in August 2012, features displays about the site’s history from its days as a summer resort hotel to its use as a boys summer camp. Key attractions include a south-facing swimming area with a mostly sandy bottom, andthe Island Runner ferry departs from the dock to nearby Burton Island State Park seven times daily. The park is committed to accessibility, with paved roads and facilities designed to accommodate visitors with disabilities.
