Hedgehog Brook Trailhead provides access to the Long Trail from the eastern side of the Green Mountains in the Mad River Valley. The Hedgehog Brook Trail is a steep, 5.2 mile round-trip hike that connects with the Long Trail 0.6 miles from the summit of Burnt Rock Mountain. The trail offers stream and small brook crossings, steep rocky climbs with wooden stairs, granite scrambles and grand vistas in all directions. This trail is entirely on private lands and is open to the public only by the landowner’s good graces, with the Green Mountain Club maintaining the trailhead and trail. The locale offers a variety of trails catering to different skill levels, with the main hiking path leading through lush forests, alongside bubbling brooks, and up to panoramic viewpoints.
