Hammond Pond Reservation, located in Newton just west of Boston, features dozens of trails to hike and interesting rock formations to climb. The trails are easy and well-marked with wide paths that are not challenging. The reservation features Hammond Pond, fishing and hiking trails as well as formations of sandstone conglomerate and Roxbury puddingstone which are popular for rock climbing. Three color-coded loop trails range from 0.8 miles to 1.4 miles, with longer walks possible by combining routes. Trails connect the reservation to the adjacent Webster Woods and Houghton Garden, wherethe historic Houghton Garden (established in 1910) features a woodland garden with wildflowers and flowering plants such as Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Spanish Bluebells.
