H. O. Cook State Forest offers more than 1,800 acres with trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing, making this a multi-season destination. The forest features northern hardwood forest, hemlock groves, mossy bogs, and small streams, andthe property also contains the remains of a small dam, sawmill, and waterfall. The surrounding area includes remnants of Civilian Conservation Corps work from the 1930s, when the forest was replanted after earlier farmland was aband oned.
