Gateway Trail is part of the Grater Woods system of trails and is a mellow doubletrack trailrated aseasy to moderate in difficulty. The mostly gravel trail features rolling hills, circumnavigates a beaver pond, and passes several wetlands. The primary hiking route isapproximately 4.4 miles as a loop with 62 feet of elevation gain. When joined with the Drilled Rock Trail to make a loop around a large beaver pond, this circuit encompasses multiple habitat types. The trail is home to diverse wildlife—Blue-headed Vireo, Barred Owl, Scarlet Tanager, and Great-crested Flycatcher are common on the Gateway Trail, making it an excellent destination for birders and nature watchers.
