Gap Mountain Trail North This is a strenuous hike covering approximately 2.4 miles round-trip from the North parking lot to Gap Mountain’s north summit, classified asmoderate to challenging with 662 feet of elevation gain. Theout-and-back trail covers 2.7 miles, passing throughsecond-growth forest of white pine and red oak. The middle and north summits offer excellent views of Mount Monadnock and are named for the prominent “gap” or saddle between the mountain’s different peaks. Gap Mountain is well known for its abundant and delicious blueberries that grow on the summits in July and August. A notable historic feature isa former apple orchard found along the main hiking trail, which crosses the historic stonewall-lined Gap Mountain Road.
