Fort Trumbull State Park and Museum This is an easy 1.2-mile loop trail near New London that takes approximately 23 minutes to complete. The route lets visitors explore the massive granite fort and its ramparts for views of the Thames River and Harbor, while walking along the riverfront boardwalk. Key attractions includethe historic fort’s two-and-a-half-century legacy spanning the American Revolution through the Cold War, during which it served as a federal military facility and played a pivotal role in coastal defense as the original site of the U.
