The Banton Quinnipiac Trail is an easy trail that hugs the bank of the Quinnipiac River. This out-and-back trail covers 2.4 miles, with an elevation gain of 36 feet. Highlights include scenic river views and a mostly flat terrain, along withviews of the river and ruins from homes that were demolished after the parkway was built. Notable features include an old stone staircase down to the river and house foundations. Wildlife viewing opportunities include wild turkey, deer, great blue heron, kingfishers, osprey, owls, and wood duck nests. A canoe launch is available behind the Mobil station, withcanoeing and kayaking permitted at the park. Note that the park is noted for wet conditions in a flood zone and varying trail maintenance levels. The trail can get flooded during times of high water, and visitors should be aware of poison ivy and ticks along the trail.
