The Bill Annesse Trail is double-wide and rolls through the woods, offering an easy to moderate hiking experience through the forest. The trail is named after Bill Annese who worked for Mass. DEM and led the fight to save the Douglas Forest from becoming a regional landfill in the 1990’s. This trail connects northwest to the yellow-blazed Midstate Trail, making it a point-to-point option or part of longer loop combinations. The trailhead sits withina popular 5,907-acre state forest that borders Connecticut and Rhode Island, where visitors can enjoy hiking and biking on miles of woodland trails. The forest is filled with towering oaks, maples, and pines, while parts of the trail pass near wetlands and ponds, with potential wildlife sightings including deer and various bird species.
