Dodge Point Preserve Trail Head The Old Farm Road Trail is a moderately easy 2-mile loop hike along old farm roads used by farmers in the 1800s and loggers, withmixed growth forest with gentle slopes and a large stand of red pine. This extensive trail system includes multiple paths and is the northeast terminus of the River-Link Trail. The preserve consists of over 500 acres with more than 8,000 feet of frontage along the Damariscotta River. A local favorite, with broad vistas of the Damariscotta River and gravelly beaches, the preserve featuresthe scenic Shore Trail (1.5 miles) which follows the shoreline of the Damariscotta River, andthe Ravine Trail (1.2 miles) with steeper and more challenging grades. Wildlife is abundant with sightings including fox, raccoon, deer, beaver, porcupine, and occasional moose, with 128 bird species observed including rank as #27 on e Bird’s Species Leaders list for Lincoln County. Coastal Rivers maintains a deep water dock at the shore for public use, and Ice Pond, near the northern boundary, is a site historically used for ice harvesting.
