Derry Rail Trail – Merchants Row Parking This trail experience suits all ages and abilities with its paved and level surface. The Derry Rail Trail spans 3.6 miles in Rockingham Countyand is considered an easy hike that covers 3.2 mi when measured point-to-point. It is a point to point trail that functions as a nice long, wide, well-maintained paved trail for walking, biking and running. This exquisitely maintained 3.6-mile paved rail-trail slices through forested areas and wetlands. Key highlights includethe trail crossing Beaver Brook over a beautiful stone arch bridge; the middle of the bridge is known locally as Lover’s Leap, andyou may notice a heron in the wetlands, or a duck or beaver making ripples on the water, and a turtle might share your path. The Merchants Row Lot has two hour free parking and is located right at the entrance to trail, which makes it more accessible for those using mobility aids, strollers, or who may prefer to avoid the stairs. The Derry Rail Trail connects to the Windham and Londonderry Rail-Trails to the south and north respectively.
