Davis Stream Preserve, Jefferson, Maine This easy loop trail spans approximately 0.7 miles and features a self-guided interpretive trail that winds along the stream bank, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the variety of ecosystems found in the floodplain and upland forests. Several spots along the stream offer excellent wildlife watching opportunities, and a ridge along the loop provides a noticeable difference in wildlife habitat than the floodplains visible below. Beaver, heron, and many other birds and mammals can be spotted here. The preserve is managed by Midcoast Conservancy and features a meandering stream where the flat landscape allows the water to loop back and forth and change course over time.
