Cobscook Shores is a series of twenty extraordinary parklands nestled along the eco-rich shores of Cobscook Bay near Lubec, Maine. This is actually a network of multiple parks rather than a single trail, withmore than 15 miles of shorefront trailsofferinghikes that are long or short, meandering to challenging. Individual parks feature easy to moderate trails, though some sections like Black Duck Cove are more remote and strenuous. The parklands offer free public access for walking, picnicking, hiking, biking, camping and paddling in Cobscook Bay. Highlights includemiles of undeveloped beaches, bluffs, coves and islands away from roads and automobiles. Cobscook Bay boasts the highest density of bald eagles in the Northeastern U. S., with flocks of shorebirds gathering on sandbars during migrations. Notable features include a spectacular panorama of racing tides around Falls Island at Race Point, heritage apple orchards at Pike Lands, andthe wood skeleton of the sardine freighter ‘The Eagle’ visible at low tide in Black Duck Cove.
