Camp Columbia State Park, Morris, Connecticut The park features three trails with the Green Trail about 0.4 miles long and considered easy, while the Red Trail is roughly 2.0 miles long, with an Orange Trail looping within the Red trail at about 0.8 miles. There are 3.2 miles of recreational trails currently open to the public. The highlight of the area isa unique stone water tower that now serves as an observation tower; from the top you can enjoy a nice 360-degree view of the area. The 600-acre site was once the rural campus of Columbia University’s Engineering Department, with the frontage on Bantam Lake and the site of the former university buildings designated as a state historic park. The property is also used for bird watching; hunting is permitted in the state forest.
