Butterworth Trail is a 1.5 mile moderate out-and-back trail located near Center Sandwich, New Hampshire that features beautiful wildflowers. This trail climbs the less popular East Rattlesnake from the east, beginning at a gradual grade but increasing to a moderate grade within a couple hundred yards. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until October. At the trail’s end, hikers can take the ridge trail to see East Rattlesnake looking out over Squam Lake. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
