Bucklin Trailhead, Mendon, Vermont The Bucklin Trail is a 7-mile out-and-back trail classified as strenuous and difficult, taking 4-6 hours to hike. The trail starts out flat for the first 1.9 miles but later rises quickly in elevation. This hike leads to Killington Peak where there are far-reaching panoramic views of the Green Mountains of Vermont, the Adirondacks of New York, and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. There is a waterfall a short distance off the Bucklin trail worth checking out. At 0.5 miles from the peak, hikers will encounter a spring and Cooper’s Lodge shelter, followed by 0.5 miles of steep rocky switchbacks leading to the summit.
