Brook Farm Walking Trail is a 179-acre historic site featuring fields, woodland, and wetland. This is aneasy walk with wide and flat trails, with guided nature walks covering approximatelyaround a mile on paved roads and woodland trails, though longer explorations ofapproximately three miles on footare also possible. The site includes diverse terraces and knolls covered by fields, forest, a cemetery, marsh, and wetlands with a small brook on the south and the Charles River on the west. Brook Farm is a National Historic Site for its role in social and intellectual history—an experimental society of Transcendentalists lived on the farm in the 1840s. Notable features include Pulpit Rock, where John Eliot is reputed to have preached to Native Americans.
